This Coincidence Ties to my Other Blog

Okay, I have begun another blog recently, where I’m documenting a series of 30 day challenges I am assigning to myself. CLICK HERE  if you want to see my monthly challenge blog. Today, the first day of October, I began making an ink sketch every day of the month.  I mentioned it to my daughter, who replied “Oh, my friend’s doing this thing called Inktober. There’s a series of prompts, and you submit a drawing every day.  I’ll send you the prompts.” Well, turns out that a certain Jake Parker started his own challenge, coincidentally in October, back in 2009. Not only a daily sketch challenge, but in ink, just like mine! CLICK HERE  to check out the official Inktober page. I’m definitely going to participate.  Today’s prompt was “swift.”  Here’s my entry: But the real point for this blog is the coincidence.  Is it not weird to find exactly the same 31 day challenge I made up, in the same month and same media?

Speaking of Hogs...

My wife, Yukiko, and I were driving to Berkeley Springs, WV today.  We started talking about what it would have been like to grow up on a farm.  I mentioned our friend, Kevin, and the fact that he did grow up on a hog farm.  In fact, he still owns one.  Next corner we drove around, what did we see?  This:

Columbus, Indiana

So, today I took a day to explore my nearest city, Washington, DC. I'm walking into the National Gallery of Art, when I run into my friend and co-worker, Doug, his wife Jess, and two of their friends.  Not such a coincidence, as work is only about 20 miles away.  In fact, I later ran into another friend and co-worker, Amalia.  Again, not such an odd coincidence. But, back to Doug and his friends.  I casually asked them where they were visiting from.  "Indiana."  I replied, telling them that my wife and a friend are going to see the movie "Columbus" tonight, about a very small town (pop. 46,850) in Indiana.  "Oh, we're from Columbus!" was their reply.  Now I find that odd.
